Kanye had a listening party at the Art Gallery in L.A. for 808 & Heartbreaks last night. Artist Vanessa Beecroft helped put the event on which is best describes as, uh, artsy. Naked girl art actually. Click HERE for the full review of the event via Fader Magazine, but the blurb below should give you an idea the vibe.
"After waiting in a loading area with an open bar and a DJ, we walked up a driveway illuminated by florescent lights to a darkened room where approximately forty nude women, most of them wearing face-obscuring masks seemingly made of faux lamb's wool, stood in the middle—black girls in the front, white girls in the back. Then the entire album played without introduction or explanation."
So everybody drank, looked at naked chicks, and listened to 808 & Heartbreaks. Sounds like a party. I dig what Kanye is doing with this album. He knows it isn't what his fans, record label, or anybody wants from him right now but he is doing it anyways. Kanye said he had to put this album out now and that he told his label that he will have a new album ready for June '09. Kanye also let off his new record "Heartless" even though it's not mastered. Click HERE if you want to see the rest of the naked chicks from Kanye's album release party.
