Hipster Rap

JAN29

I did a photo Google of the term 'Hipster Rap' and this was the first photo that came up. Therefor, in the pages of Nation Of Millions, The Cool Kids will forever be the poster boys for the genre known as Hipster Rap (or Hipster Hop as I prefer to call it). Unkut.com has taken a look at Hipster Rap and even went as far as to make a Hipster poll (so you know they aren't playing). There are a few dope articles on the Hipster movement and you can also take the Hipster Quiz with The Cool Kids, Kid Sister, and some other dude who's name I can't remember that I had never heard of before who did real bad on the rap quiz. The post is dope, but they classify Kanye, and N.E.R.D. among the 'Hipster Rappers'. To me Kanye & N.E.R.D. are just artists that are super creative and make good music. I wouldn't classify them as Hipster Rap. I'm looking more towards LMFAO, Pase Rock, and The Knux to go along with The Cool Kids, Kid Sister, U-N-I, and Spank Rock when it comes to Hipster Rap. But the genre is ever expanding and a case could be made for not only  Kanye and N.E.R.D., but also Common, Lupe, Wale, Kidz In The Hall, Pacific Division, and Mickey Facts. All of whom just make dope music no matter what you call it. And don't forget the so called Hipster Rap OG's - De La & Outkast.
